Daniel Lörcher

founder and director

Daniel Lörcher (b. 1985) is one of the founders and directors of ‘what matters’. He grew up in the southern German town of Gerlingen and completed his training as an insurance broker in 2005. It was through volunteer work that Daniel came to Borussia Dortmund in 2013, working there in Fan Affairs. In 2015, he took over as head of the Fan Affairs department. In July 2019, he became a head of the Corporate Responsibility department, further expanding its efforts. In addition to the club’s ongoing anti-discrimination work, his duties also included its sustainability campaign and taking care of leuchte auf, the club’s charitable foundation. In 2011, he and Andreas organized the first educational trip for fans from Borussia Dortmund to the Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial site. This was followed by many other projects for the club’s fans, employees, and sponsors, as well the DFL German football league and the DFB Cultural Foundation.
