Dr. Andreas Kahrs

Dr Andreas Kahrs (b. 1981) is one of the founders and directors of ‘what matters’. He grew up in western Germany and studied history and political science at the universities of Hamburg and Kraków. In 2019, he completed his PhD at Humboldt University in Berlin. His research focuses on the Holocaust in central and eastern Europe, as well as the international relations of South Africa during apartheid. In 2009 and 2010, Andreas managed the celebrations marking the centennial of FC St. Pauli, a football club based in Hamburg. Since 2011, he has worked freelance on various education and remembrance projects concerning the Holocaust. He also worked with Daniel on developing the anti-discrimation campaign of the football club Borussia Dortmund. In addition, Andreas has worked on projects for the DFL (Germany’s football league), DFB Cultural Foundation, and Stanisław Hantz educational institute.
